Locate Worship

Locate Worship is an original idea spawned from the fact that none of us is perfect.

Waking up late one morning after having slept passed the time of my normal service, I went online to find another worship service nearby.

My searches did not pan out too well. I could not find a later service. Knowing that I could not be the only Christian who has ever overslept, I decided that I could help others by creating a database where service times and locations could be accessed. As they say, Necessity is the Mother of Invention.

How to make a meaningful time out of going to a new church.

Get to the chapel on time! Locate Worship was built to help you do just that.

The next part is easier – pay attention during the service. Look around the church, observe other people and maybe pick up a clue as to what they find most moving. I am not suggesting you judge, "Lest you be judged." Instead, I am suggesting you find a common ground – not the differences – among the faithful.

After the service comes the hard part: applying lessons learned to your daily life and openly discussing with your social peers the positive impact of the service.

Getting involved

Going to church means you are involved in the community.

The first step is to make sure you attend services on a regular basis. You come to know the people you worship with and find opportunities to volunteer your services. One way to do that is to identify a faith-community need and try to fill the void with any talent you may have. Although we often overlook our own abilities, by volunteering, others in the congregation will certainly gain from the knowledge you have. You could also be the spark that entices others to offer their talents as well.

The next step is becoming a member of the Church. Joining a church means declaring yourself be to a part of the faith community instead of apart from. Oftentimes, Church leaders will ask you to confirm your beliefs before an audience of the congregation. Just remember, these are the same people who are already members. They know your apprehension – they’ve been there too. Fortunately, their support will bring you through the process stronger than before.

That’s the benefit of joining a Church. Your repayment is a commitment to the community and your personal efforts to help it improve and grow.
